Hey there!

I'm Jen Comas Keck and I was born and raised in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah. I discovered the gym at 16 years old after gaining weight from a typical teenage diet laden with junk food. What began as a quest to merely lose a few pounds quickly turned into my passion and purpose.

After moving to Las Vegas in May of 2004, I spent a few incredible years immersed at the gym and teaching every group fitness class imaginable from Body Pump and Spin to yoga and pilates. In 2008 I developed a desire to further enhance my knowledge so I obtained my Personal Trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Being able to work in a group environment as well as one-on-one with clients was a dream come true and I loved it. My hunger for challenge and new experiences led me to compete in my first Figure competition in 2008. It was during this time that my love for weight training was born and I switched my focus to more advanced strength training.

I started following DeFranco’s Westside for Skinny Bastards program in January of 2009 and fell in love with the challenge of the “three big lifts”. Squatting, deadlifting and bench have become staples in my weekly training cycle. I’ve ditched almost all cardio for more serious forms of conditioning such as hill sprints, Prowler pushes, kettlebell swings and AirDyne bike intervals. I spend countless hours reading work from various strength coaches, researching different training methods and exploring nutrition.  I proudly defy the stereotype of the “bulky strong girl”. I train hard and never miss a session, but I maintain a very feminine figure and I’m also the girliest girl you’ll ever meet.  I aspire to show women that you can be multi-faceted in fitness – you can be strong, feminine, flexible, lean and well conditioned!

I feel like I’ve “been there, done that” with almost every type of training and nutrition style possible, and for that, I’m thankful. I’m grateful for my many experiences that I’ve had over the years and finally feel like I’m in the groove of what is truly best for my physique, health and performance. I’m able to speak from personal experience on fitness topics ranging from Bikram yoga to carb cycling, from powerlifting to Figure competitions. Chances are good that I don’t just have an opinion; I’ve done it!
One modality of group exercise that has stuck with me over the years is yoga. I’ve both practiced and instructed and it holds a permanent place in my heart. I like most styles but am passionate about Ashtanga.

I’m happily married and my husband, health, family, friends and pups take priority over all else. I, along with my husband and his father & step-mother, own an Investment Banking Firm called Five Talents Financial Group. It’s an arena that has challenged me and pushed me far beyond my comfort zone, which has allowed for tremendous growth and I expect the trend to continue. I am constantly surrounded by people with a strong focus on personal growth and improvement which is contagious! I love to read and write, and adore everything relating to fashion. I also love to come up with healthy recipes to show people that clean food isn’t a punishment! My intent is to leave this world a healthier and happier place. You can check out the "Recipes" tab on my blog for a bunch of delicious treats!

I’m also very proud to be a sponsored athlete for the world’s best strength training site and compound, EliteFTS.com  You can find my archived training log here , my newest training log here, and my YouTube channel with training videos here.
